UPDATE NOV 23: Sadly, this project has had to be cancelled as I ran into copyright issues with the label who owns the master rights to the unreleased Crispy tracks. Apologies for disappointing everyone, but all might not be lost! Keep your eyes peeled.
Hi everyone!
So I've been in talks with Christian Møller of Crispy since March about this... and I wanted to share it with the members of this forum, as I want everyone to be involved. We are looking to create a non-official (but kinda a little official) second Crispy album, which I will design in Photoshop/Procreate and have professionally printed, with songs selected from the unreleased catalog he has sent us over the years.
The working title, thanks to Cesar, is "LEVEL TWO!" - an obvious reference to their first album "The Game".
I want this to be a love letter to Crispy fans around the world, and fans of bubblegum dance in general, and of course a tribute to the late Mette Christensen, original Crispy vocalist, who passed away in 2005.
I have added a poll to this post with most of the unreleased Crispy songs so you can vote which ones should be on "Level Two". "I Wonder Who's Kissing You Now" and "Harley Boys" were two personal favourites of Mette and Christan's, so they will be included. DJ Santa I'm undecided on whether or not this will be included, as it was technically released by the label, but I've included it anyway.
What I want to know from you is the following:
1. What are your favourites from the unreleased tracks?? Please select up to 20 SONGS in the poll! Please note, "All Night Long" is not included as this was sung by Gry Bay and not Mette.
2. Is there an unreleased song(s) not included in this list that you think should be on the album? Please reply to this post.
3. What would be your ideal tracklist be for "Level Two"?
4. Do you have a better idea for the album title?
Attention Digital Artists
I'm also looking for digital artists who want to do some drawings for the album booklet, or even the album cover. You will need to keep in mind that this is a donation to Bubblegm Dancer as I won't pay you for the art, as this is a non-profit project. It will need to be a labour of love. Christian said he is going to try do some drawings, and I will try to trace them into Procreate myself, although my skills are fairly limited so if anyone wants to take on/help with this task I would be happy to accept your help.
Of course, it depends on what tracks eventually get chosen for the album, but I'm thinking some drawings that are in a similar style to/based on Crispy's original art would be super awesome. And some artwork that is inspired by the songs, like for example Crispy at the beach for Bamboo beach, pink umbrella cocktails, or even Uncle John's icecream truck!
Attention music producers
I'm wanting to know if anything interesting can be done with these demos considering we don't have the original production files, for example, can they be remastered? Or even remixed? Are there any music producers on here who would like to attempt some remixes of some of the songs, or maybe create an extended mix? As I don't have any production experience, I'm not sure what is possible, but I'd love to hear your ideas.
Copyright information
As I said above, I'm not able to pay you if you do choose to contribute to this project, so it will need to be a labour of love and your contribution will need to be a donation to Bubblegum Dancer. Also, I won't be benefitting financially from this project, the price of the CD will be the price it costs to have them printed + shipping so it will be very cheap. Afterall, this isn't an official release but just something super fun for the fans.
Please let me know your thoughts on this project!
