...'cause one cannot live on bubblegum alone...there is the 'general music' area
Hanna who?
Finland is turning into quite the rockin' country--first Lordi and now Hanna P. This isn't bubblegum (although some of her early tracks sound like Britney on metal--see below)...it's the Finnish Idol (UK, US and Canada is not the only country with and 'Idol' show). This is a nice rockin' alternative chick, kind of like a Finnish Kelly Clarkson with an Evanescence goth side--and is the favorite to win Finnish Eurovision. But she has more rock oomph that KC--especially later tracks. Her 3 albums started somewhat watered down Idol-style, but then kick into gear as releases increased.
I'm not usually a big fan of things this "generic" but she brings an X-factor with wonderful Scandanavian pop presence--and she can really sing too. This is a perfect example of someone who needs to get out of the Finland-only market...100% English songs and a wide appeal.
Bottom line, I am going to be compiling all 3 albums in a 21-track 80min CD for my friends and if there's anyone on here who likes what they hear, I will add a link here as well for you good people (zuki and hoshi especially give her a listen below).
Good luck finding out about her outside of Finland for now. If you like the mentioned artists at all you need to hear this chick...trust me
This is the first of 2 artists I will be doing this for--Marit Bergman from Sweden is the other one that's caught my ear big-time.
From first album (Idol-watered):
Hurry and listen--one version already removed from youtube.
From second (hitting stride):
Great video--original band doing "cover version" reminds me the many lifeless US bands.
From latest (first 2 absolutely jam--first is current Eurovision tune)....last 2 are from second release:
www.myspace.com/hannapakarinen
Oh yeah...and what does Britney mixed with Evanescence sound like? Well...sorta like this (a great track from her first):
hanna pakarinen - fearless.mp3 - 5.58MB
