It's been a long time since I heard an album as great as this I have to convince you all to hear it.
1) Ya Ya Yippee
The eponymous track is somewhere between a jig and a march, a combination which I love. It successfully captures the feeling of school being out and the summer beginning.
2) Dokter Dokter
Much more traditional bubblegum than the last track, this one had me dancing and really keeps the momentum going. another great song.
3) Trouwen
The title means 'marry' in English, and the song perfectly evokes the joy and festivity of a wedding. Should I marry some day, I'd like this song played. There are also so many instruments, from the bells to the organ to the electric guitar embellishing the groovy synthesizer.
4) Zoo
This song is goofy but I couldn't help finding it dangerously catchy, especially the chorus. Another one I'll have to come back to...
5) Eskimo
There is a heatwave where I am at the moment and this song actually managed to cool me down, so it's doing something right. This one's not really bubblegum but it's a headbanger all the same.
6) Sprookjesbos
I was expecting this to be the seemingly obligatory slow song - not that there's anything wrong with that - but it totally surprised me by turning into an epic dance track reminiscient of S Club 7.
7) Bibliotheek
My first job was working in a library and I hated it, so this song must be good to get me so wholeheartedly joining in by the end.
8) Feestje
The instrumentation in this song is full but not overpowering. The more sedate track is no bad thing after all the enthusiastic dancing this album has been making me do and breaks up the album well. The key change at the end is pretty awesome too.
9) Op Televisie
This song does some creative things with the time signature - I don't come to K3 to be impressed by theory but here we are! It's also a groovy track in general.
10) Excuseer Me
This song is a reminder of the more dangerous side of love and has an edge to it that's unusual for K3. It shows they aren't afraid to experiment.
11) Vriendschap
This is the actual slow song I was expecting - what better to use it for than a sweet song about friendship. The finally acapella chorus is particularly wholesome.
12) Eeny Meeny
Classic bubblegum dance to finish off with. It's a strong way to end off the album.
In conclusion, there's no way I could have expected this to be so great. I've decided I must have a physical copy, which I rarely feel so strongly. Simply put, this is one of the best albums ever released with all the songs being amazing. 10/10, only because a number more than 10 wouldn't make any sense mathematically.
