I'm not gonna lie, I've been the biggest Flo Rida hater since I first heard "Right Round". I secretly liked it, but hated that he couldn't come up with his own chorus and refused to buy it or tell anyone I liked it. Then I heard his song "Sugar" in which is samples "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" and wanted to beat the crap out of him. I never thought I'd like him and whole-heartedly agreed with the following iTunes review:

But the other day something amazing happened, my friend played one of his songs in her car, and my thoughts on him changed. His music is VERY dance-like production-wise and his hooks are catchy as anything. Not to mention, I really like his voice and his lyrics are damn HOT. He's the epitome of the fictional genre "Hip-Pop". I decided to download his new album (illegally, of course) and give it a good listen. It's now one of my favorite albums of ALL TIME. An artist that I HATED has now become one of my favorites. I have listened to the CD non-stop since I burned it. So anyone who likes dancey hip-hop and a catchy chorus, you REALLY need to check out his album "R.O.O.T.S.". There is not a single song on the album that I don't like, they're all gems. Usually there's the little "limpy gazelle" tracks (weak ad not up to par with the others) but I really can't say that about ANY of the tracks. This album rocks my socks, and how HOT is his BODY!!!! Mmm... Here are a few highlights from the album:

I don't really like rap unless it's very sugared up. I mean, I'm not closed to it, but I rarely like it. He's just the typical steriod rap dream

The only reason "Right round" is bearable is because he stole a super awesome tune and stuck it in his song. I'm surprised he used the "Blue" song also. He's riding on other peoples ideas.

The only song that interests me at all is Jump and that's because of Nelly Furtado.

i was kind of personally offended when i first heard Sugar because Blue (Da Ba Dee) was my favorite song from second grade all the way to fourth grade. since i pretty much change my favorite song every week [it's currently frontload by freezepop, but i already posted about that], that set a record for me. i was attached to that song and i was so mad when they played Sugar at the dance and everyone screamed I LOVE THIS SONG!!!. it was enough to actually make me stand still for an entire song at the school dance, which is something i never do. that's how mad i was.

that being said, i do like jump, but only the part where he isn't singing. i'm just a person who likes music to have...music. and rap isn't music. it's poetry. [okay, i just stole james's words there. but it's totally true]

Yeah I used to be 'protective' about the songs I liked and if someone else did them but now I see it as an opportunity for someone who likes it to eventually find out it was originally by Eiffel 65, then they go search up about them, find other dance artists, boom we have a dance music fan among us...

I'm not as as turned off about what songs he's "covering/mixing" myself as much as the style of the music it is done in, just doesnt work for me

Personally, I like Flo Rida and "Sugar" is my favorite song by him and one of my favorite R&B songs. I also like "Low", "In the Ayer", "Elevator", and others.

I think part of the reason I like "Sugar" so much is that when I first heard it, I didn't know it was copying another song. But I still think it sounds really good and I love to listen to it.

I love R&B music like Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, Flo Rida, T-Pain, all of those. And it's good because it's a genre where I'm not the only one who likes it. I'm just another suburban white kid who likes music like that.
