I think there's a bit of confusion about what Bubblegum dance actually is, and I'm sorry if I've confused anyone by making "sub-categories" at the Web site.
Real "Traditional" Bubblegum dance are artists such as Aqua, Bambee, Toy-Box, Ni-Ni, Miss Papaya, Crispy, and Hit'n'Hide, and Johnny Jam & Delgado's other productions (excluding JamPack, they're not really traditional bubblegum).
"Contemporary" bubblegum dance is a term I made up to describe the "bubblegum" pop/dance groups who were formed AFTER the 90s traditional bubblegum craze. A lot of these artists may not even be considered bubblegum, but I've included them on the site for the purpose that they are
The reason why I have made sub-categories is because if I was to include ONLY artists that are traditionally bubblegum dance, there would be VERY few on the Web site. Consequently, I've had to branch out into many other sub-genres, such as pop/dance, and even eurodance in some cases, so that there is more information on the site, and to be able to mention some of those other GREAT artists that, while they seem bubblegummy enough, may not be traditional bubblegum dance.
It's difficult because a lot of artists don't just focus of one genre of music, they tend to experiment. Like Solid Base for example, while they are a eurodance group, they have experimented with a lot of different genres - having created a Vengaboys like dance song with Sha La Long, and even a bubblegum dance song "I Do".
A LOT of the artists on the Web site at the moment aren't really bubblegum dance at all, a lot of them are pop/dance and bubblegum pop (e.g. Rebecca is pop/dance and the Fast Food Rockers are bubblegum pop). Apologies for those who want to get specific about music genre, but I really have to include these artists because they're well-known artists in the bubblegum dance community, and are commonly linked with "bubblegum dance music".
If I was to clean out all of the artists who aren't really bubblegum dance, and just include those who are DEFINITELY bubblegum, then I'm afraid there won't be many! So I hope you don't mind me including other artists on the site! This post is mainly directed at producers and people who question whether a song or artist is bubblegum dance or not. I know a lot of them aren't real bubblegum dance, but without them, the site would be BORING! Lol
