Another thing I wrote for class, this is supposed to be a plot development. I think it has potential. I'd like to hear suggestions or criticism. Please ignore the obvious plagiarism. XD
He approached her with the utmost caution. She was a woman with such obvious grace and talent that he felt he could never be worthy of her presence. Nevertheless, he was sent here for a purpose. He knew he must complete it or else he would suffer the wrath of his superiors. He swallowed deeply and made his way past the crowded pub toward the table she was sitting at.
She was holding a lit cigarette in her long, manicured hands. She sat in perfect posture. She wore simple black jeans that hugged her hips snuggly and showed her lean figure. Her shirt was a low cut blouse in dark grey. A long leather jacket hung on the chair behind her. Seeing a figure walk towards her, she narrowed her dark green eyes and took a last drag on her cigarette before snuffing it out in the ashtray in front of her.
The young boy stopped in front of the table and adjusted his overcoat. Clearing his throat he attempted to speak. Before he could say a word, the woman spoke.
"Le' me guess, you an errand boy for Spegial, aren't ya?" she had a slight Irish accent. She uncrossed her legs and reached into her coat pocket behind her and took out another cigarette.
The boy nodded and stammered, "Ye- yes... You are Faye then?"
The woman softly giggled. " 'ow else would I 'ave known where ya came from?"
The boy blushed and looked uncomfortable.
"I'm just givin' ya a 'ard time. Come'on, sit!" She pulled a chair out from its place under the table and patted it's seat.
The boy shyly smiled and sat down. He looked at the woman and felt uncertain as to what she would do. Rumours he had heard told him that she was brash, cocky and unpredictable. He looked at her and blushed when his eyes met hers. She had long auburn hair that hung down her shoulders and strong, but soft features. Her nose was small and delicate. Her cheeks round and full. He noticed the sharpness and determined look of her eyes at once.
"So, errand boy of Spegial, you 'ave a name?" asked Faye before lighting her cigarette. She looked amused at his apparent awkward state of mind. She smiled at him and was pleased at his appearance. Obviously strong willed and decisive, regardless of his seemingly shy manner, she decided. He looked to be in his mid-twenties, with blonde hair, light brown eyes and a lean but sturdy build.
The boy tried his best to sound confident. "It's Demitri. Demitri Dobry, if you care to know. I don't want to keep you long, so I beg your patience with me if our meeting runs long. I will just tell you what Mr. Spegial told me to pass on to you and you may leave with me a message to relay to him, if you so wish."
Faye laughed. She sounded as if she had just shared a joke with a close friend. Demitri blinked in surprised. He didn't understand what was humourous. At least she didn't seem to be laughing at his stupididy, he reasoned.
Faye stopped laughing and giggled a bit before saying anything. "Now, now, there ain't need ta be so formal, young Demitri Dobry. I aren't anyone to get into such a tiffy over. Just relax and make you'self comfortable. What can I get ya ta drink? Oh, I know, ya look like a scotch kind o' man." She waved her hand to get the attention of a passing waitress. "Get me young friend 'ere a glass o' your best scotch. On the rocks should suffice I think." She smiled at Demitri to see his reaction. He looked embarassed again and tried to tell her there wasn't any need to get him a drink, but saw the determination in her eyes and saw it would be impossible to deter her. He nodded his approval at the drink and watched the young girl bow her head and say she would be back promptly with it.
"Now, now. Le' me 'ear what you 'ave ta say," Faye said and took a gulp of her drink.
Demitri nodded and pulled out a photo from inside his coat pocket. He put it on the table and slid it across so that Faye could see it. She peered at it and nodded. She looked up at the boy and waited for him to continue.
"This man, Leon Brass, is the culprit of three armed robberies and suspect of at least the involvement of 3 murders. He is also suspected of running a drug operation. The thing is that he is more or less small fry. We just need him to get to the head of his organization. We need him to get to Walter Omega. I'm sure you know all about him..." he trailed off. He watched Faye's expression closely and saw that she looked disdainful. She sighed in annoyance and looked at the photo on the table again. Demitri knew all too well the history of Walter Omega and Faye Valentine. At every turn, Omega had eluded her in her attempts to catch him. For all her talents and experience, somehow Faye could not apprehend the notorious mobster.
Faye took the last drag of her burning cigarette and snuffed the butt into the ashtray. " 'orrible 'abit, I know," she voiced, noticing the boy looking at it. She blew out the smoke and straightened up in her chair. "Now, 'ow much is the bounty on this one then?" Her eyes lighting up.
Demitri flipped over the photo to show a number written on the back. "Mr. Spegial says that for your trouble he will add another 10% upon successful capture of Mr. Brass. Only he will not be able to provide you with any additional materials you may need on this operation. He says he cannot afford to help you out should you fail."
Faye's eyes sparkled and she grinned. "Ah 'a, as usual, Spike believes I can't do it. I bet he has Ambrosia or Langton working on this as well. Maybe the both of them. Well, no mind, I have no doubt that they won't even be able to catch a faint sniff of the trail once I get on the case." She grinned again and looked as if she were very pleased with herself. She stood up suddenly and Demitri followed suit. He noticed she was quite tall. Only a few inches shorter than himself, and he was 6'4". She looked around and noticed the girl that had taken her drink order earlier return with Demitri's drink. She told the girl that they would be right back and added that she wanted a paralyzer. The girl obeyed and went to fetch the additional drink. Faye looked at Demitri now and took him by the arm. "Now, come with me, I want you to take something back with you to Spike. Then we can come back and enjoy our drinks."
They walked towards the back of the pub where there was a staircase that led up to a few small guest rooms. Faye took Demitri into one room and went to the desk and scribbled something onto a piece of notepaper. She gave it to Demitri.
"Tell him his guy is as good as caught, and he better keep his word on the 10% increase in bounty." She looked serious for a moment then smiled. "Come'on, let's go finish our drinks and worry about business tomorrow. The night is young." Before he could protest, she took his arm and led him back down into the pub.
