My First Album, as the name suggests, is the debut album by English singer Lolly. In fact, the style of bubblegum dance proposed by Lolly is very different from the other bands of that particular subgenre, as it brings a sound more based on pure bubblegum pop (Track # 1 "Viva La Radio" and Track # 5 "Dance In The Rain" etc.); which leads to the foregone conclusion of many people who think that Lolly is an artist focused on this type of pop music. I love it when an artist has his 'own style', and Lolly is not out of it. Thanks to this album, she managed to found and consolidate her style, making her sound unique and special. My First Album at European release, contains 20 tracks, including 10 karaoke tracks from the rest of the songs on the album.
1. "Viva La Radio" - As far as introductions are concerned, this song is the most appropriate to be the opening track of this album, in addition to being the main hit of the same. When the music starts, we are instantly infected by a pleasant chorus that already makes a great impression on the music, and then we are launched to the first verse that infects us even more, but it is in the pre-chorus and the chorus that the music explodes for once, since it is in these parts that the song is most melodic and harmonic. In fact, the loud bass sound of the song, which made it even more spectacular and incredible. My favorite track!
2. "Mickey" - Although it is a cover of the famous song by Toni Basil, I really didn't think it was a good cover, when it comes to the tone of voice. In the original version, the singer sings the song in a more 'mature' tone, but in Lolly's version, it uses a more childish tone of voice, which I consider to be a mistake, as this left the song a little pointless. and that didn’t match much. On the other hand, it is a very good and happy song, and its electrifying beat really catches us a lot!
3. "Big Boys Don't Cry" - Just like many bubblegum dance albums have a 'ballad', My First Album could not be left out. It really is a good and very well produced song, in addition to being the most relaxing on this album. This song clearly shows Lolly's vocal techniques, which are really excellent and impeccable, and which impressed me a lot. This song should not be skipped.
4. "Kiss Kiss Boom Boom" - I confess that I was startled by the crazy and funny scream of the male vocalist at the beginning of the song, but don't let that stop you from enjoying this beautiful song that, without a doubt, is a very exciting and bouncy song. It is the only track on the album where the male vocal is widely used, although it is only present in a few blocks. Really impeccable and with a summer flavor!
5. "Dance In The Rain" - It is certainly the cutest and most striking track on the album, in addition to being a very well produced song. At the beginning, the song starts with a sweet vocal by Lolly, which already shows us what we can expect. It takes a while to start, but when it starts... It's an explosion of melody!!! Undeniably, it is an extraordinary song that makes good use of vocals, in addition to a catchy hook. Definitely a highlight of the album.
6. "Can You Keep a Secret?" - This track, like the others, is loaded with a pleasant and memorable melody, in addition to a great vocal. I really loved this song, because its melody (as mentioned) reminds us of some pop/country songs from the 80's, although its theme is different. If you listen to the part where a harmonious guitar is played (around 1:00 to 1:07), you will probably come to the same conclusion.
7. "Internet Love" - another cuter, melodic and captivating track, although not as memorable as the others. It's not that bad, but I think the chorus repeated over and over has left the song a little tedious.
8. "Happy" - Unlike the previous tracks, this track stands out for having a lyrics, melody, vocals and other elements contained in it with a more positive and motivating emphasis. right at the beginning, we are surprised by a sweet melody together with Lolly's high-pitched vocals, which already gives us a great feeling about the song; but it is in the chorus that the song takes off for good. My favorite track!
9. "Telephone Boy" - it's a great track, but nothing too special. This track is not as exciting as the others, perhaps due to the fact that the producers used a very 'sugary' sound and, consequently, made the track very sickening.
10. "Do You Feel Like I Feel?" - The last track on the album, 'Do You Feel Like I Feel?' it's another less memorable track on the album, although it's not too bad. When the song starts, it gives us an impression that it will be a second ballad from the album, due to the piano that is introduced at the beginning. However, it's just another Bubblegum track.
The subsequent 10 tracks as mentioned earlier, are karaoke tracks from all of the previously reviewed songs, which are present in the master release of My First Album, and there is really not much to evaluate.
Overall, it is a very fantastic and extraordinary album that you cannot miss. My First Album is an album very well produced by meager details, so much so that there were not many mistakes, except in Anna Kumble's tone of voice on the track "Mickey", which was not so suitable. The best tracks on this album are "Viva La Radio", "Dance In The Rain", "Big Boys Don't Cry" and "Happy". Well, analyzing the whole album, my score is
9/10
